Privacy Policy

Who we are

Ourside is operated by Bitten Development Agency LLC, an Arizona limited liability company (“Ourside,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Ourside iPhone app, its widgets and notifications, this website, and related services (the “Service”). We are responsible for (the “controller” of) the personal information described here.

Information we collect

We don’t collect your location, contacts, browsing history, or advertising identifiers, and the app doesn’t include third-party analytics or advertising software.

What stays on your iPhone

When you frame a photo, Ourside finds faces and pets on your iPhone to suggest a crop. That detection runs only on your device and is never sent to us. Only the photo you save is uploaded. We don’t create facial recognition templates or use your photos to identify anyone.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

• sign you in and keep your account secure;
• make, check, and deliver your daily pictures in the app and widgets;
• send the notifications you turn on;
• provide Ourside Plus features and confirm your subscription;
• find and fix problems, prevent abuse, and keep the Service working;
• answer you when you contact us; and
• meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We don’t sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don’t use it for advertising, we don’t track you across other companies’ apps and websites, and we don’t use your photos or pictures to train AI models.

AI image generation

Ourside’s daily pictures are made with AI. Before you add any photos, the app asks you to agree to this, and we don’t make pictures for an account that hasn’t agreed.

To make each picture, we send the reference photos and names of the people and pets in that picture, together with the day’s topic, to an image model from OpenAI, either through OpenRouter or directly. We then send the finished picture and the same names to an OpenAI model through OpenRouter to check it before you see it. We send this information only to make and check your pictures.

People in your pictures

Add someone only if they’re happy to be in your pictures. For a child, you must be their parent or guardian, or have their parent’s or guardian’s permission.

Anyone who wants to be removed from someone else’s account can ask that person, or write to us at the address below. You can delete a person and their photos at any time in Settings → People & Pets.

How we share information

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Ourside, and only what each one needs to do that work:

We may also share information:

• when the law requires it, or to respond to valid legal process;
• to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us, including to prevent fraud and abuse;
• as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information; and
• with your permission. Pictures you share from the app go only where you send them.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is active. When you delete a person, their photos are deleted.

When you delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete Account, we delete your photos, people, pictures, push tokens, and account records from our production storage. We also delete your RevenueCat customer record and revoke Ourside’s Sign in with Apple tokens. Leftover copies in backups or logs are purged on their normal rotation schedules. We may keep limited information longer when the law requires it or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

Security

We protect your information with measures such as encryption in transit, access controls, and limits on who can reach production data. Your photos and pictures are private to your account. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.

Your choices and rights

In the app

• Change or delete people, pets, and photos in Settings → People & Pets.
• Turn notifications off in Settings on your iPhone.
• Manage or cancel Ourside Plus through Apple.
• Sign out, or delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete Account.

By request

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to confirm whether we process your personal information, give you access to it or a copy in a portable format, correct it, delete it, or restrict or object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing your agreement to AI processing means we can no longer make pictures for you.

To make a request, email privacy@tryourside.com. We’ll ask you to confirm the request from the email address on your account, or in another way that lets us verify it’s you. We’ll respond within the time the law requires. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we’ll explain the outcome. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.

U.S. state and EEA/UK details

U.S. state privacy laws

Residents of California and other states with consumer privacy laws have the rights described in section 10. In the past 12 months we have collected the categories of information listed in section 2: identifiers (account identifier, email address, push token), customer records (name), commercial information (subscription status), and photos and other content you provide. We collect them for the purposes in section 4 and disclose them to the service providers in section 7 for those purposes only. We have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don’t knowingly do so for anyone under 16. We use photos only to provide the Service you request.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland

We rely on these legal bases:

• Contract: to provide the Service you signed up for, including your account, pictures, widgets, and subscription.
• Consent: to send your photos and names to our AI providers, and to send notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems, in ways that don’t override your rights.
• Legal obligation: when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

We are based in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from where you live. When we transfer personal information from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

Ourside accounts are not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly let children under 13 create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it. A parent or guardian may add their own child’s photos to their account, as described in section 6.

This website

tryourside.com doesn’t use cookies, analytics, or advertising. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes your IP address and basic request information to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. Because we don’t track you, we don’t change anything in response to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals, and there is nothing to opt out of.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes or the law requires. We’ll change the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
